What is EN54-7 Standard and Requirement for Smoke Detector
With the proliferation of modern electronic appliances, fire safety has never been more important. Sudden short circuit or accidents could all cause fire to occur, so it is essential to have appropriate fire protection that can prevent and mitigate the associated damage. As part of a complete fire alarm system, EN54-7 Smoke detector should be used for protecting buildings & lives.
Some of the requirement of the standards include, but not limited to:
- Compliance – The device needs to be able to withstand to physical environment changes such as temperature, corrosion, shock, EMC, light, voltage, air flow etc.
- Sensitivity to fire detection – The smoke detector should be able to pass a series of fire tests that are designed to produce smoke.
- Directionality – The device should be able to sense the smoke presence, regardless of the direction of the incoming smoke.
- Protection against foreign object – The product will be able to protect against removal, whether intentional or unintentional.
- Marking – The detector should have appropriate markings on the detector.
For use with fire alarm systems, the above requirement should be met before the smoke alarm is being placed on the market.
